Open-world adventure RPGs can be a lot of fun. Valheim, one of the newest additions to this genre is gaining lots of players and fans. We have the right games for you, whether you are a Valheim player or someone looking to play other open-world survival RPGs. These are twelve games that look like Valheim you can now play.

Play Valheim Games in 2022

Valheim's appeal lies in its detailed mechanics, tasteful aesthetics, and Norse mythology. This is a combination of things that exist individually but seldom come together in one video game like they do in Valheim.

Still, in our attempt to find games that are similar in one or more ways to Valheim, we came across a lot of promising RPGs and open-world games. Every person has different tastes in games and so your expectations of "Valheim alternatives" may differ from mine. Make sure to read the entire list.

Don't Starve Together, the co-op edition of Don't Starve is a popular version that I've spent many hours on. This multiplayer version makes Don't starve even more fun. Play with your friends or online to find out how you can survive the game. You can also play the game alone, but survival is very hard.


You can build your base in the game just like Valheim. Gather food and other resources and then explore the region you are in. All the while making sure you don’t get eaten by night creatures.

2. Niffelheim

Niffelheim sounds very similar to Valheim. It also tells the tale of a Viking soldier who was killed in battle. But, you are stuck in Niffelheim. Although the game doesn't offer an open world experience like Valheim, it does provide a survival-oriented, similar experience. The game allows you to gather resources from fallen enemies and craft weapons. You also need to find pieces to the portal to Asgard. This is the area you should have been after you've won the battle.

3. Conan Exiles

Conan Exiles may not be a brand new game, but it's a popular and well-known one. It's a multiplayer survival, open-world game. You can join friends and gather resources to build your base. This is similar to Valheim. Online, you can play with strangers or join clans to dominate the Exiled Lands.


You can enjoy many Valheim-like experience in the game. Once you are done with it, you can hop into Conan Exiles to feel at home.

4. ### 4.

Outward is another open-world RPG that you should check out. This game lets you travel the Aurai lands. The game doesn't only focus on exploration, it is also survival-oriented. It is important to protect yourself against predators and ensure that you are able to provide shelter, food, water, and other necessities. You can play the game alone, just like Valheim. However, it will be much more enjoyable if there are a few people who join in and work together.

Although it is not Valheim-like in terms of setting or overall theme, this one has similar elements to survival and adventure. This game is an adaptation of Honey I Shrunk the Kids.


Grounded shrinks you to the size an ant would find in their backyard. Like Valheim, you must explore, build and sustain yourself. You can either play as one player or with friends in order to survive.

DYSMANTLE, a survival game in post-apocalyptic times where your only hope is to survive in a hostile world populated by evil and vile animals. Explore the world and defeat all monsters to claim land and build bases, weapons and armor.


You can break 99 percent of the objects on the planet, provided you have the correct tools. Additionally, you can collect resources to improve your chances of survival. The game has a fascinating story and you must escape from the island.

Rust is another game similar to Valheim I recommend. Rust is a survival game. Your only goal is to survive hunger, thirst, and cold. For a greater chance of survival, you will need to be able to kill and build your base just like Valheim. You may also create alliances with players in order for better odds.


You are now facing Rust, so it is up to you how to survive. Your survival will be dependent on your ability to fight the elements and other players that can steal your resources.

Did you say you liked zombies? The Infected looks like Valheim, but it has those horrible post-apocalyptic animals. For a true survivalist experience, the game includes character hunger, thirst and body temperature mechanics. Explore the map and gather resources and materials to create your base. Craft items are also available. This is all to help you survive.


You'll need to be prepared to survive in harsh winters or scorching summer heat. The Infected, which is basically Valheim without zombies or Vambies as it's called, should be a must-see.

9. Terraria

Terraria is one of the best survival sandbox games out there, and even though it looks nothing like Valheim, it has features that are very similar to those found in Valheim. You can travel to other worlds and mine resources, then come back to your server. You can also buy goods from Valheim's NPC merchant.


The raids are another commonality between Terraria, Valheim and Valheim. Mobs are able to descend on your base in this game which brings an additional layer of danger. Terraria, a survival game that is solid for those who love Valheim, can be described as a great alternative to Valheim.

You play as a pilot in The Long Dark. After a strange flash of light, you crash land in Canada's wilderness. Anyone who wants to experience the full, thrilling story can use the story mode. For survivalists, there's also a sandbox option.


The Long Dark also uses Permadeath to make it even more fun. Your saves are erased if your character dies in the game. Each decision that you make can mean the difference between life or death. It is possible to create tools and find resources that will help you protect yourself against hunger, thirst and the harsh cold in Northern Canada.

You are the only survivor in 'The Forest' after a plane crash. The forest is full of cannibals. You will be using survival tactics similar to Valheim. Just like Valheim, you will need to collect resources and construct shelters. To survive and defend yourself from the cannibals, you will need to make tools and weapons.


You can also play the game aggressively, or stealthily to survive. You can live and let life happen.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla doesn't have a survival mode, although it is, just as Valheim, a game about Vikings. You can discover an open world in Assassin's creed, much like Valheim. Additionally, you have the option to take part in story missions or side missions.


Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a great game that offers a deeper dive into the Viking world.
